Studying Architecture at the University of South Australia

The Good Oil

On this page we discuss why we do not recommend the Louis Laybourne Smith School of Architecture and Design at the University of South Australia as a place to study architecture.

Joanne Cys whacks us big time

Some years ago we published our opinions about the University of South Australia Louis Laybourne Smith School of Architecture and Design on this site.

Oh dear, we did get into trouble! Courtesy of the hooplehead running the place, one Joanne Cys, the school did not like what we said. A few weeks later, lawyers acting for the school demanded that we remove our professional opinions about it from our website.

Should I study architecture at the University of South Australia?

For those of you looking for the good oil, we can only say that Dr Garry does not recommend the school of architecture at the University of South Australia either as a place to study or a place to do research. You may take his opinions as you wish, and you can always email him for further information. There are many, many other places you can study architecture in Australia. We suggest you take a look at our alternatives.

We cannot recommend any school that attempts to bully its critics into silence. We have no problem with them criticising our results, and indeed we have published these criticisms on our site, and made corrections where we felt necessary. But we do take deep offence at threats to suppress data they do not like.

And, if in fact the offensive email really did originate from someone associated with the school, perhaps a present or former student, then we cannot recommend an educational institution that produces such graduates.
